Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation of Forests (REDD)

The reduction of emissions from tropical deforestation and degradation of forests, which accounts for about 20% of human-induced greenhouse gases. Through a REDD system, the emissions from deforestation and degradation are quantified more precisely and furthermore, monetarily evaluated. The REDD scheme is designed to build up an economic incentive for protecting forests on a global scale by different measures.
