EU Allowance (EUA)

Certificate entitling a plant operator to emit 1 metric ton of carbon dioxide (t CO2) within a certain period of time within the EU ETS. It only applies to the fulfilment of requirements of the EU Emissions Trading Directive and can be transferred as specified therein. The allocation plan from 2013 on mainly draws on auctioning as allocation method for EUA.
