Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)

Mechanism provided by Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol, designed to assist developing countries and economies in transition (Non-Annex-I countries) in achieving sustainable development by permitting industrialized countries (Annex-I-countries) to finance projects for reducing greenhouse gas emission in these countries and receive certified emission reductions (CER) in return.
