Clean Dark Spread

The margin that a coal-fired power plant gains with given hard coal prices. It therefore refers to the price difference between hard coal and power. Clean Dark Spread also considers CO2 costs. Since the start of the EU emissions trading scheme in 2005, the Clean Dark Spread has been more relevant than the Dark Spread. See also Clean Spark Spread.
